Your go-to source for all things dog training in Northern Nevada! We are a family-run business that helps people and their dogs from all over the west coast. We pride ourselves in our flexibility and adaptability with each dog we train. We use a large array of techniques in our training since we work with all kind of dogs. From puppies needing a good set of foundational skills, to nervous shelter dogs lacking confidence, to extreme behavioral issues such as aggression, we can help! We have a diverse “tool belt” for training, but have found great success teaching the proper combination of positive reinforcement, marker training, slip leads, prong collars and e-collars. We believe in a healthy balance of all humane training methods and recognize that all dogs perceive tools and interaction with humans differently, therefore each dog is approached in a unique manner that suits them best. We believe strongly that only 25% of what we do is dog trining, and the rest is human training! All of our programs are tailored to not only teach your dog, but to teach you. We do not offer a magic solution that will fix all your problems. Instead, we lay a solid foundation, break habits and teach new skills then show you how to access those skills and enforce everything at home. With our programs, your dog’s success is entirely contingent on your follow-through and consistency where we can be with you every step of the way, if you are committed. The love of dogs drives everything we do in our business and it is our goal to arm as many dog owners as possible with the plethora of training knowledge we have to offer! One of our philosophies at Stand Proud is to use structure, consistency, motivation and clear leadership to help dogs live happier and healthier lives. When a dog and owner communicate clearly and can depend on each other’s behavior, the possibilities are endless!
Meet Brandon!
Owner & Head Trainer
I began to find my own path in the dog world through rescue and rehabilitation, which started with countless volunteer hours at the Humane Society here in Reno, until I was finally offered a job in the dog area. I often would venture into the back row of kennels after completing my day's work. Most people were discouraged from hanging out in this area because this was where they kept all the dogs with significant behavioral issues. I found myself unsure of how to help these dogs, despite my short lifetime of experience and knowledge around them. Thus began my venture into rescue, rehabilitation, and training.
I find myself fitting the mold of a balanced trainer, but I try to avoid placing myself in any particular camp because I feel every dog is unique and I try to approach each training situation as such! My education surrounding dogs began at a very young age because my father housed, bred and showed Akitas. This led to a very early relationship with dogs that required my respect in order to work and live with them. I’ve attended several education seminars over the years, read countless books and studies, and have worked with over 1000 dogs on the west coast to hone my training program into what it is today. With that being said, I firmly believe that training requires our team to indefinitely educate ourselves and remain open minded about the best approach for each dog that we work with. On top of that, I have spent time in almost every area of dog care/handling including, grooming, daycare, medical care, fostering, shelter work and even hospice care for elderly dogs.
I am dedicated to improving the relationship with your dog and providing the tools necessary to establish and maintain the happiest and healthiest lifestyle possible with your best friend. I look forward to helping you through your training journey!
Meet Danielle!
Owner & Director
Hi everyone! I am Danielle, Brandon’s wife. My roll in the business is to facilitate all the communication and scheduling with clients (with the help of my wonderful secretary, Debbie). Ever since I was a small girl, I have loved dogs! As I became an adult, everyone knew me as the crazy dog lady who would take in any dog that needed me, even if they were aggressive. While I’m not the dog whisperer that Brandon is, my love for these amazing creatures drives me every day. I will love your dog like my own and do everything I can to help them thrive not only while they are with us, but long after they have left. I have a Master’s Degree in Paralegal Studies and a lifetime of experience in customer service, and am thrilled to incorporate my own work experiences into the dog world to build a business with my husband that we love so much. Working with Brandon to help dogs and their owners live their best lives has truly been a dream come true!
Meet Elijah and Evie!
Dog Trainers in Training
What is a family-run business without the help of our children?! Elijah is already taking after his parents and loves dogs so much! He helps us take the dogs on walks, expose nervous dogs to a calm child, take cute pictures for social media, and helps with feeding! You may even have the pleasure of doing a private lesson with him! Evie is the cutest moral support we could ever ask for!
Meet Abby!
Co-Head Trainer
Welcome to the webpage! I’ve always had a huge love for all kinds of animals. When I was younger I’d bring home any animal I’d stumble across! Lizards, birds, snakes, it didn’t matter much to me! As a young teenager, I got my first dog and I truly fell in love. Obviously, I wanted to bring him along with me whenever I could! But my new pup needed manners in order to do so, thus my passion for training was sparked. 11 years later, my childhood dog is now thriving. He knows exactly what’s expected of him and gets to come to work with me. I’m living my dream, and my buddy gets to experience it with me! I couldn’t ask for anything more.
I’ve been working in the dog industry for 6 years now, but I truly found my home at Stand Proud. I believe every dog deserves to be understood and then guided to be the best version of itself. In the 6 years that I have been working with dogs, this is the first place where everybody truly loves and cares for all the babies as if they were their own! Working alongside the other trainers here has been beyond impressive and humbling. My knowledge of dog behavior and training is constantly expanding. I’m very grateful every day to be able to greet all the furry faces and pick their brains apart! I have to say my favorite part of the job is seeing how much the dogs improve and thrive during their time spent with us.
Meet Sean!
Daycare Manager & Kennel Attendant
Sean has worked for us for several years now, in all different locations and positions. He has been a long-time friend and when we needed an employee, he stepped up and has helped us grow our business since then. He loves all the dogs, is patient with them and knows all of their quirks. He is an invaluable asset to our business and a wonderful handler for the dogs!
Meet Debbie!
Secretary
Honestly, I had no background of dogs or dog training to land me the job of Danielle’s secretary! My background is in Education and later, Pharmacy Technician. But when I interviewed with Danielle I felt there was a fit. It started as a job, and became a family. I don’t get to engage with clients other than texting, but I have listened to the struggles and frustrations that you all feel! It is the best feeling when clients text me about their successes and satisfaction with our various programs. I’ve gotten to experience the tears of joy when a client picks up their dog after a LONG board and train program. I have seen the dedication that the staff exhibits to make each situation the best it can be for both owner and dog. As part of the Stand Proud Pack, I hope to help in making a positive life change for you and your furry friend.
Meet Alexia!
Basic Obedience Trainer & Kennel Attendant
Growing up, dogs have always been more than just pets, they've been my best friends. My journey into dog training started as a funny bet with my dad when I was younger that I couldn’t train my own dog. While training him, I found that i deeply enjoyed working with dogs, and Stand Proud has been the best place and opportunity for growing that passion. They have have given me invaluable insight into dog behavior and the best ways to communicate with them, turning every training session into an exciting learning opportunity.
Dog training, for me is more than just a hobby. It's a passion. The ability to connect with these incredible animals, understand their needs, and help them thrive is something I love doing every day. Whether it's learning new tricks or simply deepening our bond, I find joy in the progress I can make with dogs. This family within our workplace has not only enhanced my knowledge, but has also given me a unique perspective on how much love a creature has to give without a single word spoken.
Meet Andrew!
Kennel Attendant
The infamous Andrew! You all see him possibly every time you drop off or pick up your dog. He is the most consistent and present kennel attendant that we’ve ever had the pleasure of employing. He takes care of the pups overnight and does many shifts during the day as well so all of your dogs get to know him very well and vice-versa. He absolutely loves each dog he interacts with and takes the time to make every dog comfortable with him and the boarding environment. He is also Brandon’s cousin, contributing to our family-run small business.
Meet Angela!
Secretary
Angela is the newest member of our Stand Proud Pack! She has taken on a lot of the scheduling tasks and other time consuming things to lighten Danielle’s load. We are so proud of her for stepping up to the plate and taking on the difficult responsibilities of such a nuanced business!
Meet Alex!
Property Manager & Kennel Attendant
Hello everyone, I am Alex! From a young age, I have always loved all animals, even the creepy crawlies. As I got older I knew that working with animals was my calling, from working in conservation with UNR and state parks, to working on farms and ranches as a hand, my love for animals has only grown greater. Now I very happily work with mankind's best friend here at Stand Proud Dog Training. I look forward to working with all of your dogs and bringing my knowledge in animal care to the table. Over the years, I have obtained experience and skills working with various different animals to provide a clean, loving, and healthy environment. I love that I now do this for your furry family members during their stay with us!
Meet Demi!
Kennel Attendant
Hello dog lovers! My name is Demi and I am Danielle’s sister. I’ve always loved all kinds of animals and growing up in the desert, I caught and played with them all (even the slimy and slithery ones). My love of animals brought me to the position with Stand Proud. I’ve watched my sister grow her company over the last 5 years and when she asked me to work for her, I couldn’t turn down an opportunity to be with dogs all day! No dog is undeserving of love and Stand Proud really believes in that. Every dog is special to me in their own way and I love to see their personalties, all different from one another. They are truly man’s best friend. I’m one of the kennel attendants that will take care of all your fur babies needs, making sure they are comfortable in their training and boarding sessions. I love to pay attention to the little details that every individual pup has, ensuring they’re happy, thriving, and excited to return!
